Katrina Carpenter

FOUNDER AND EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

Katrina Carpenter is the Founder and Executive Director of Jean's Angels, a community-driven, 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to assisting the underserved youth, single-parent homes, and nursing homes of Berkeley, Dorchester, and Charleston Counties. Through mentoring, scholarships, college preparatory workshops, and college campus tours, Jean's Angels has been making a positive difference in the lives of Lowcountry individuals since 2015.

Raised in Cross, South Carolina, Katrina attended elementary and high school in the area and participated in community programs throughout the city. She was raised in a household where education was very important and taught to be influential; after graduating from high school, she obtained her Bachelor's degree from Shaw University, Raleigh, North Carolina, a BS in Business Administration from Limestone College, and completed her Masters of Business Administration from Strayer University. In addition to operating Jean’s Angel’s, she is an office manager at a Fortune 500 Company, an active participant in multiple community service projects, a member of professional organizations throughout the Charleston, South Carolina area, and an active component at Bread of Life Deliverance Church in Moncks Corner, South Carolina.

During her collegiate career, she accessed invaluable experiences and knowledge, and since graduating, has made it her goal to see more local community youth exposed to the same opportunities. Prominent populations of crime and social and economic issues exist in many Berkeley neighborhoods; many minority youths are unfortunately either incarcerated or victims of the city’s senseless violence. With her own personal encounter with life’s unfortunate circumstances and understanding of the importance of education, Katrina knows that she was born to take part and strive for change. As a scholarship recipient, she wants to give the same chance that was provided during her high school and collegiate years.

After years of contemplation and having the goal of launching a non-profit organization benefiting her community, Jean’s Angels was founded in 2014. In 2018, the organization became a fully formed 501(c)(3) with great support from her community, family, and friends. In 2023, Katrina Carpenter was recognized for her hard work and tireless efforts with the Jefferson Award, given to those who exhibit outstanding achievements in public service.
